We were almost carried away by mosquitoes, but I managed to get a
couple of photos with my new gadget thingy. A wide/macro lens for my
iPhone! I know I'm a sucker for these types of things. Fun!

Premier Gary Doer to step down
I was halfway across the city when I got the call that Gary Doer was about to start a press-conference where he was going to announce his retirement from public office. I made it on time though I couldn't find the quick-release mount for my tripod!!! I had to tape my video camera to the tripod!
At some point during the show another photog from the paper slipped in and with only brief eye contact we decided one of us would work long and the other short... I happened to be at the front with my wide so I got the short assignment.
I stepped behind the Premier just before he gave his wife a hug and managed to get this shot.
One thing that I noticed while there was that the Winnipeg Sun didn't have a photographer covering the announcement. I could be wrong though. Both of there legislative reporters were shooting with video cameras. I wonder who made the decision on that.
I'm going to bet that Canadian Press photographer David Lipnowski will have the front page for them.
Speaking of which David just sent me this photo of me taking a photo Gary Doer and his wife Ginny Devine. Cool.

It sucks when you don't have water
It sucks more when you don't have water and can't afford to buy
bottled water like some people who live in Winnipeg are dealing with
right now.

Morden Corn and Apple Festival
There were so many people I had a few moments of anxiety with the result that I really wanted to
bash my way to the freedom of a side street. Would that be considered some form of road rage?

AC/DC night at the Winnipeg Free Press
See and download the full gallery on posterous
Was given access as a producer on our live blogging page for the AC/DC concert. That was a first. Posted one photo then had to hand those duties off to my live blogging master so that I could work on the actual newspaper. Our photographer sent us over 20 photos and these are the ones I culled out for consideration on A1... which one do you think will be used?
Friday night in the office
The first run of the Saturday paper around 11:30pm. Waiting for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers to finish their game against the B.C. Lions. Need to choose a new A1 photo...
Which photo will I choose?

Fantastic weather today. Perfect day to garden.
Too bad I'm working! Working on an interesting project (fingers
crossed). Only thing I'm gonna say is I used my iPhone to shoot a
couple hundred photos. ;)

Picking crab apples on a beautiful evening
After a lousy day of rain the evening is shaping up to be perfect.
