Another replate for today's paper
This time we replated the main story because Tasiya Barkmam didn't get
thorugh customs at the Winnipeg Airport from Haiti until very late. I
believe there was a concern here that the paper would be late hitting
the streets because of the large number of inserts.

Swimming lessons
I watched while my daughter took her first swimming lesson today. It
will be awhile before she makes it to the deep end of the pool, but
she did learn how to dog paddle!
Very proud moment!

Replated front page of the Winnipeg Free Press
Which one is the first run? Can you tell? My hint to you is that not
just the photo was changed...

Timelapse = 1 hour
This is a timelapse of the main Photodesk mac over the course of about an hour... Notice the point close to the very end where I decided to change the photo that an editor gave me to do up.... I took a horizontal and cropped it up into a tight vert. Also, at one point I flipped back and forth between a torchbearer that was lit with flash and without. I went with the flash one as the image was going to be small on the page in bw and I thought it would look much clearer.

A look back at a year in flux
This is a favorite photo of mine from this year because of the
uplifting outcome to a house fire. Though it was devistating for the
homeowners, they lost quite a bit of their belongings, it could have
been worse. When I arrived on the scene I learned that there were a
number of dogs trapped in the house. Visually the house was just
emitting a bunch of smoke and I was getting lots of photos of
firefighters going in and out of the front door to the house. At one
point I decided to walk around to the back of the house to see what
was going on. Perfect timing on my part, just as I arrived
firefighters were carring out the dogs and putting them into the back
of one of the trucks to keep warm. One of the firefighters started to
give one of the puppies some oxygen which was when I captured this
image.
